Italian singer/songwriter Violetta Zironi started writing music at the tender age of 16. Now still only 22, Violetta has already forged an impressive, earthy sound drawing her inspirations from folk and americana. Her new release ‘Toast’ is the latest single from her upcoming ‘Half Moon Lane’ EP produced by Tim Tautorat (The Kooks), and follows on her acclaimed release earlier this year ‘Don’t Make Me A Fool’.
During the summer of 2016 Violetta started on a journey across America, stopping in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas – meeting local musicians and picking up inspirations along the way. Reflected in this latest body of work, her continental folk roots have blossomed alongside this flavour of the US; a swirling, emotive track, Violetta layers her gorgeous vocals – reminiscent of Birdie or Katie Melua – together with her frank, playful storytelling.
Speaking on the track Zironi states; “It’s about being emotionally removed from any relationship, being afraid to be vulnerable and to put yourself out there. When stealing hearts, all you really want is someone to steal yours.”
Having played ’Stand By Me’ on-stage with the legendary Ben E. King, and being personally requested to accompany Jack Savoretti on tour, Violetta is already getting plaudits from legendary and emerging talent alike. On the bill for both SXSW and Reeperbahn next year, get ready to hear a lot more from this emerging star in the coming months.
