199V’s upcoming album is one that anyone can relate to; change. V’s album revolves heavily around his lifestyle change following his first album and death of his friend Valentino. While most of it was produced by Canada’s Jei Bandit, the album also features stellar production by Planet Giza, jåmvvis, VXNYL & Dear Lola who’s well known to be one of Wasiu’s main producer & DJ.
His recent release “Too Fast” can literally be titled as a comeback track for 199V, flexing on those who denied him. “Too Fast has kind of a hidden message, you see, I’ve always been anxious, jumping out my seat (ADHD), I can’t keep calm. I drink fast, smoke fast, can’t stay focused for the most part, but when it comes to music I’m capable of taking my time,” states 199V.
ABOUT THE ALBUM:
199V’s album theme is one that anyone can relate to; change. V’s album revolves heavily around his lifestyle change following his first album and death of his friend Valentino. Tracks like “Become,” “Way Too Much,” and “Upgraded” speak about him leveling up, changing for the better and overcoming a dark chapter. “Weight of the World” is V speaking on how he was left by everyone to carry the weight of ‘the world’ alone. “Too Fast” can literally be titled as a comeback track with him flexing on anyone who denied him what he’s coming for. “Island” and “Different” is definitely the fun tracks of the album, with Island playing on the gimmicky-ness of today’s industry and Different talking about how chicks saying they’re different not knowing some of us can tell the difference. But his deepest track on the album, “Valentino,” is V literally speaking in the perspective of his dead homie.
Formerly known as Mac Vybz, the 22-year-old 199V, or V for short, created a buzz in 2013-15 by the use of social media and online competitions. From there he moved to a more professional route, dropping a catalog of music videos, hopping on shows across Canada and even signing a record deal and releasing his first studio album #GRADUATION. During the start of his of the album, his best friend and collaborator, Valentino, died of a drug overdose. From there V stopped all music ventures he had to go on a 2-year hiatus leading him to a dark place, heavy drug use, robberies and more. In 2016, ODDIO Ent. decided to give V a second breath, followed by a complete rebrand and giving himself the name 199V. After a year of recording, V is ready to come back and give the music he kept inside of him this whole time, fuelled by life experiences, pain, and loss.
