Bringing original raw, grime, energy to the frontline, Scorcher teams up with Mercston and Ghetts, his fellow comrades from ‘The Movement’, to hit out the weighty ’99 Riddim (My Ting)’.
Premiered at radio with DJ Target and online via Complex, Scorcher wades straight in on the Scholar beat, that has a seminalRuff Sqwad sound. ’99 Riddim (My Ting)’ is steeped in nostalgia and is a rude and effective reminder that Scorcher is part of the grime scene blueprint.
Having hit the headlines over the summer, appearing on SKY News, The Guardian, BBC network, Capital network and beyond, Scorcher ventured from his music roots to take the lead role, as the character ‘Hoodz’, in independent film hit ‘The Intent’. Scorcher continued to build his catalogue of music throughout his time in front of the camera, not only taking the lead visually but also supplying the lead track for the film and followed it quickly with a collaborative E.P between himself, GRM Daily and Rocket from SplurgeBoys.
The composer of some of grime’s classic mixtapes, including his ‘Simply The Best’ trilogy, Scorcher sold out London’s Jazz Café to perform his previous solo release, the ‘1 of 1’ E.P, live, alongside guest appearances from Wretch 32, G FrSH, Mercston, Ghetts and more. Here to set the scene on fireonce more, Scorcher fires hard with 99 Riddim (My Ting) and matches it with an equally tough upper cut in the form of B-side record, ‘Paranoid‘ featuring Donaeo.
